Here is the Country Auction Report as collected by the Beef Farmers of
Ontario Thursday.
FED CATTLE: There were 670 head on offer at OLEX and Brussels. At
OLEX, fed steers and heifers sold at steady prices. Cows sold barely steady.
At Brussels, veal sold on a strong, active trade at higher prices.
Large Steers:$180.00 - $184.75
Large Heifers:$174.00 - $180.00
Cows:$99.00 - $120.00
Veal over 450 lbs:$191.00 - $216.00
* REPLACEMENT CATTLE: There were 1,200 head on offer at the Ontario
Stockyards. Top-quality calves sold on a stronger market. Second-cut
calves sold at fully steady prices. A run of medium-quality yearlings traded
steady when quality is considered.
