Drought conditions and the amount of available forages have a large effect on hay prices in a region. Many Midwest locations saw drought, some for the second year in a row, and this situation has limited hay supplies and caused prices to rise dramatically. However, some areas received adequate moisture and have ample supplies with less-expensive prices.
